19/12/11: Avoid 'cold turkey' this festive season
SMOKERS in Coventry are being encouraged to avoid 'cold turkey' this festive season - with free NHS support to stop smoking.
Approximately 7 out of 10 smokers want to quit and they are up to four times more likely to succeed in their quit attempt with the support of a NHS commissioned stop smoking service like Stop4Life than going 'cold turkey' alone.
The Christmas period is a really difficult period to stop smoking, so the Stop4Life service is gearing up ready to help smokers in Coventry to stick to their New Year's resolution to quit in 2012.
Elisabeth Barbosa, Programme Manager for Stop4Life, said: "New Year is a time when people make resolutions that will improve their lives, and stopping smoking has such motivating financial and health benefits. We want to be able to help people who decide to go smoke free in 2012 by providing them with help and support to stay smoke free - for life.
Stop4Life is an NHS commissioned provider of stop smoking services in the city and aims to offer a flexible and non-judgemental service, offered from a network of city-wide clinics.
Weekly clinics are based in the city centre; Foleshill; Bell Green; Earlsdon, Tile Hill; Willenhall; Walsgrave; Canley and Wood End, workplaces and other venues coming soon.
